2018 Development Meet

 

Wells Swimming Club made a good start to the new short course season at the 2018 Somerset Development Meet coming away with eleven medals and a staggering 80 PBs. The large number of PBs achieved over the weekend shows how well the squad as a whole is improving.

 

Medal winners for the girl’s team were Katie Chambers who won silver in the 200m IM, Emma Healey who won silver in 100m back and bronze in 200m back and Eloise Yeadon Caiger who took gold in 100m fly and bronze in 100m and 200m breast and 50m fly.

 

Also swimming well for the girls was Tianna Allom with 4 strong PBs, Lydia Bulmer who gained a large PB in 50 breast, Lizzie Chambers who picked up 7 PBs, Ailsa Richardson who just missed out on the medals in 50m free and had 3 PBs, Ailsa Richardson with a large PB in 200m IM, Edie Richardson with a PB in 50 fly, Izara Hole, who missed out on the medals in 200m breast but who impressively had PBs in all of her events, Xanthe Knott, who picked up 9 PBs and Layla Matthews with 3 PBs.

 

Medal winners for the boy’s team were Thomas Maitland-Smith who won gold with an impressive PB in 50m breast, Cameron Taylor, who won silver in 100m IM, bronze in 50m fly and just missed out on another medal in 100m fly despite a 20 second PB and Ethan Wright who won the bronze in 100 IM with a 12 second PB.

 

Also impressing for Wells was Max Banwell who just missed out on the medals in 100m back and 50m free and had a strong PB in 100 breast, Jack Freeman who picked up 8 PBs, Lachlan Taylor with 5 PBs, Theo Truan-Thatcher with 2 PBs, Sam Cavill, who had PBs in all but one of his 9 events, Owen Dukes, who impressively had PBs in all of his events and Tristan Morris with 3 PBs.

 

Head coach Eli Myers said it was a fantastic start to the season.
